Your first machine embroidery: a practical guide
A good stitch-out starts before the machine runs. Work through your file, fabric and hoop setup one step at a time.

Choose a manageable design
Start with a small design with a few thread changes. Check the design dimensions against the usable embroidery area of your machine, not just the outside dimensions of your hoop.
Prepare fabric and stabilizer
Choose stabilizer for your fabric and the density of the design. Hoop the fabric evenly without stretching it. Keep the surface smooth and check that the hoop is secure.
Check the file and stitch a sample
Open the supplied stitch file in compatible software or on your machine. Confirm orientation and size. Run a sample on the same fabric and stabilizer combination before stitching your finished item.
Finish carefully
Trim jump threads as needed. Remove stabilizer according to its instructions and press from the back using a suitable temperature for your fabric. Keep your sample notes for the next project.
